She really existed and was the sister of Henri-Louis Bergson a famous French philosopher.
She was also an artist, a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and would later be known as Moina Mathers after marrying Samuel Liddell Mathers (also a character in The Ghost Club) and adopting a more Celtic spelling of her first name.
